You’ve heard the whispers, but now we can confirm it…
WIDR IS BRINGING HENRY ROLLINS TO KALAMAZOO!
Take a moment to freak out, we did when we found out.
A part of his The Long March spoken word tour and the WIDR 60th anniversary celebration, Henry will roll in for a night at The State Theatre on Wednesday, March 21st, one of only two Michigan dates. It’s been a while since he came to town and he’s been very busy. In addition to constant touring, both spoken word and USO, Henry has found the time to publish three more books, including a photo essay collection about his travels called “Occupants,” lead a series of live interview shows with WIDR faves Dinosaur Jr., roll with Black Sabbath, and travel across the world gathering experience. He’s a bad ass and we adore him.
According to his official press release:
“While economic uncertainty and political upheaval define the global landscape on a broad scale, expect Henry to bring the human (and often humorous) side to light during The Long March as he shares stories from the road less traveled – including recent visits to North Korea, Mongolia, Bhutan, Vietnam, India, Tibet, Sudan, Uganda, Haiti and Cuba.”
Dude went to Cuba. That’s a story worth hearing, yeah?
Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 18th, at 10 am at The State Theater website. Floor tickets are $30, all others are $25. We suggest getting them quickly, as WIDR will only be giving away a small number of tickets and we know you’ll all want to be a part of this event, and dare we say WIDR’s history.
Enjoy this classic excerpt from his IFC show, tell all of your friends about the gig, and put in for the night off/book your sitters right now. You’ll be miserable and mocked if you miss it.
