Hey WIDR people…. we’ve got another in-studio for you guys to eat up…. Today we’ve got the Corrosive Kids from Grand Rapids doing their thing (which is awesome).

These guys are part of a collective operating out of Grand Rapids called PVC HE.X. — and they’re doing all sorts of cool shit. Corrosive Kids just released a split 7″ with the Doctors Wives’ on PVC HE.X., which you can purchase from their website…

We’re only five days away from WIDR Sliders & Brew 2! Are you pumped? We sure are. If you’ve been on the fence about coming, which seems odd to us, maybe a glimpse at some of the awesome beers we’ll have this Sunday from 2-6pm at the Kalamazoo Beer Exchange. WIDR Sliders Brew 2!

Are you stoked for this? We sure are and we thought you might want a few more details about how this bad boy is doing down.

Admission is $15, which gets you a souvenir tasting glass to use at the event and ten food/drink tickets. Each ticket is good for a beer sample or a slider, and you can use them in any configuration you like. There is a small chance that one or two of the rarer and more exclusive beers may end up being two tickets, but we’ll let you know if that happens and which beers fall into that category. After that, if you’re looking for more, additional strips of five tickets are available for $5.

Keep checking back with us, as tomorrow we’ll be letting you in on some of the brews and the truly amazing sliders Chef Bill and crew will be busting out. Feel free to stop by our Facebook event and let us know that you and all of your hooligan friends will be there.

Would you like to work at WIDR?

It’s already that time of year and WIDR is looking for the next crop of Directors. You can be one too! Here is a link to download job descriptions for all of the positions. We encourage anyone to talk to the Director in the position that interests you, since they’ll be able to give you a full picture of what the job entails.

The basic requirements are that all Directors must be enrolled at WMU at least half time during the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters and maintain a 2.0 GPA (3.0 for GM and Business). Directors *do not* have to be current staff members at WIDR, but preference is given to those candidates who have worked with/at WIDR before. The positions are held from May 1st, 2012 through April 30th, 2013 and are year-round jobs.

All we need from you is a resume and cover letter relating to the position you’re seeking. For those who aren’t currently a member of the WIDR staff, you will need to fill out a WIDR General Application, available any time in or just outside of the WIDR offices. GM and Business Director applications are due in digital format to widr.gm@gmail.com by 11:59pm on April 12th, and all others by 11:59pm on April 15th. Once they’re in, we’ll schedule your interview.

For those of you eligible for work study, we also need office assistants! Apply to be one of those too. Or tell your friends with work study to come work here. Either way, there are plenty of spaces available.

Want to be on WIDR? Adopt-A-DJ!

What is Adopt-A-DJ?

At a certain giving level, WIDR opens it’s doors to donors and allows you to take over a shift or show! For 1-3 hours, you get to call the shots and make WIDR your own.

How do donors qualify?

When you give $89.10 or more to WIDR during WIDR Week, you are eligible to take part in the Adopt-A-DJ program. It’s that simple.

When can DJs/shows be adopted?

This program only exists during WIDR Week. Donations not made outside of this time do not qualify. Any time slot/show may be adopted, but you do not need to make your pledge during that show to qualify. Just tell the DJ taking your pledge which show you’d like and we’ll take it from there.

What do I get to do during my shift?

Guests in this program can do as little as just coming in to hang out on their favorite show or as much as putting together a playlist and hosting the show completely. You don’t have to keep the format of your chosen time slot, but you do have to follow all WIDR on-air regulations regarding content and FCC regulations. A WIDR DJ will be on-hand to, at minimum, act as a board operator during Adopt-A-DJ sessions, so you don’t have to know how to run any of the equipment in the studio to enjoy this special opportunity.

When can I come in?

As soon as you’ve paid we can arrange your visit.

Can adoptions be transferred?

Yes! Adopt-A-DJ is a great gift and we encourage people to utilize it that way. All minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian to participate on the air.
